After a lengthy bus journey, the hastily assembled B team took to the field to face Marlborough. Canford started brightly, attacking Marlborough with a real sense of purpose and this sustained pressure resulted in tries from Jasper Tilney and Thomas Taylor. This seemed to spark the hosts into action and, despite some tenacious tackling from Canford, Marlborough clawed themselves back into the match. The effort of defending started to take its toll on the visitors and an increasingly confident Marlborough began to exploit the gaps in Canford's defence. Canford were not without opportunities to narrow the deficit but sadly our efforts were thwarted by some resolute tackling. It was nonetheless a very encouraging first match and I am looking forward to seeing the team develop into a more cohesive unit as we prepare for the next match against King Edward’s.
